Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is kind of a mixed blessing for me. It has wonderful memories but it also reminds me of terrible loss. So with that in mind, I bring you a variety of thoughts on love.
“…and I forgot to tell you
I love you
and the night’s too long and cold here without you…”
Sarah McLachlan
“There is nothing holier in this life of ours than the first consciousness of love - the first fluttering of its silken wings - the first rising sound and breath of that wind which is so soon to sweep through the soul, to purify or destroy.”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
“…When we dance angels will run and hide their wings…”
Sting
“Off you go again alone and it’s with a very heavy heart I part from you. No more kisses and tender caresses for ever so long - I want to bury myself in you, hold you tight in my arms, make you feel the intense love of mine.”
Tsarina Alexandra Fyodorovna
“Love is an act of endless forgiveness, a tender look which becomes a habit.”
Peter Ustinov
“There is a strong wall about me to protect me;
It is built of the words you have said to me.”
Mary Carolyn Davies
“Sometimes, all I need is the air that I breathe and to love you.”
The Hollies
“I want to stand with you on a mountain,
I want to bathe with you in the sea,
I want to lay like this forever,
til the sky falls down on me…
Savage Garden
“Wouldn’t you agree, baby you and me, we’ve got a groovy kind of love…”
Phil Collins (and numerous artist previous)
Happy Valentine’s Day!
