Today’s Field Trip - Strange Museums

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

hall of fame If you are anywhere near Titusville, Florida, you just might want to check out the American Police Hall of Fame and Museum. If you are planning a crime or mystery novel, you might be able to use a lot of this stuff. Inside, you will find some pretty gruesome crime scene photos, and if you have ever wondered what an electric chair looks like… they have one of those on display!

You can book yourself a session in the gun range with instruction thrown in as well. (See The Big Ticket Below)

Obviously, this is not your average museum and the perfect place to do a bit of research! But if you aren’t near Titusville, Florida, check in our own home town. There are zillions of exhibits that usually pass by the people who actually live in the area. We usually leave the museums and touristy stuff for vacationers! To be honest, I can’t remember the last time I visited our own city’s museum!

“Admission
Adults: $12
Kids 4-12: $8
Senior Citizens & Military: $8
Law Enforcement Officers: Free*
Family Survivors: Free

Leave it to Beaver - The Complete First Season Limited Edition Gift Set

Don’t ask me why this stuff appeals to me, because I haven’t a clue, but I was looking for something a wee bit unusual and I found this!

“The first toilet ever seen on television was on “Leave It to Beaver”.

I used to watch that show every afternoon while making the kid’s lunches. Just had to love Larry Mondello. That kid sure loved to eat!

A cow you can steer…

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

A Chilean taxi driver has come up with a new way to fight assaults: make your vehicle so conspicuous that nobody would dare try to rob you.

After being robbed several times, Juan Geraldo upholstered and covered every square inch of his car’s interior with black and white spotted cowhides, including the steering wheel and ceiling. He then decorated the interior with stuffed toy cows, and added a horn that moos.

The visual effect is even more impressive at night, when the black and white taxi interior is set off from floor to ceiling by a flood of neon light.

“The effect was immediate. They haven’t robbed me since,” said Geraldo, who said the special effects also brought in more clientele and allowed him to expand his cab fleet from one car to nine.

I would just love to see this car! Now I’m not sure that I would want to sit in it, but I sure would like to see it!

Aussie inmate tried dieting to escape

Friday, October 20th, 2006

Why Am I Still Depressed? Recognizing and Managing the Ups and Downs of Bipolar II and Soft Bipolar DisorderAn inmate who used laxatives to shed 31 pounds so he could squeeze through a hole in a prison wall had been frustrated by the indefinite sentence he was serving, a judge said Friday.

Robert Cole, 37, spent three days on the run from police in January after slipping his 123-pound frame through a 15-centimetre wide hole he had chiseled with a butter knife in the widow frame of a hospital wing at Sydney’s Long Bay Jail.

Do you have any idea how small a 15 cm wide hole is?? That man really does need treatment and you have to wonder why he was not receiving it before his escape?

“When he escaped, Cole had been serving an indefinite sentence in the prison hospital after a jury found him not guilty of armed robbery in 2003 on the grounds of mental illness.”

The Victoria Secret Fantasy Bra

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

fantasy braOkay, the bra looks gorgeous. Well, it should if it costs The $6.5 million dollars. But who would buy such a bra… even if it is comfortable? The only thing that I can come up with is that it is a good way for Victoria Secret to get it’s name out to the masses with Christmas just around the corner. Okay, that sounds logical, but to go… this extravagent? Couldn’t they come up with a 6 thousand dollar bra?? Seeing that none of mine are even close to being that expensive, it would still get my attention and it would set back the company millions of dollars!

Any ideas on why they created this fantasy bra??

Today’s Weird News - Thai snake charmer puckers up to cobras

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006

” A Thai snake charmer kissed 19 highly poisonous king cobras in an attempt to set a world record Saturday.

One by one, the cobras were released onto a stage set up in this Thai beach resort town, as the snake charmer, Khum Chaibuddee, kissed each beast and then moved on to the next.”

Snakes give me the creeps plain and simple. As a matter of fact, G and I were out for a walk a few nights ago and saw this baby snake trying to cross the sidewalk toward a pond in a nearby field. Yes, we live in a strange neighborhood. Anyway, if a tiny baby snake can give me the creeps, I don’t even want to think about a King Cobra.

Now that I think about it, aren’t baby snakes born in the spring so that they have all summer long to grow. This one was incredibly tiny?? Makes no sense to me, but it still gave me the creeps.

Weird News… Puttin on the Ritz

Sunday, October 8th, 2006

Ben & Jerry's Mint Chocolate Cookie Ice Cream, Frozen Food, 16 fl ozYou might want to give this some thought if you love ice cream. Tasha Callister of Jackinsonville, Florida, definitely loves the stuff and I think she also has a thing for chocolate covered Ritz crackers too. So by combining the two, she managed to win the national Ben and Jerry’s Do Us a Flavor Contest in Waterbury, Vt., on Thursday. Oh, did I mention the caramel syrup?

And the prize… steady yourself… “Callister and the other four finalists won ice cream for a year, in addition to the trip to Vermont. She also won an ice cream party for her family and friends. Ben & Jerry’s will create enough Puttin on the Ritz for the party, but there are no plans to put the new flavor in production, Greenwood said.”

Ice cream for a year!! I wonder how much that would be??

Okay… Today a Window Fell Out

Monday, September 4th, 2006

Buy Your Home Smarter with Feng ShuiI was hoping that all of the things that could go wrong with house were behind us, but apparently not. Today (Monday) Britt opened a window in the loft and the window fell out… straight down three floors to end up on the grass below. Wouldn’t you know that it would have to be a holiday and I can’t get a hold of anyone to replace the window. I left a message with the builder and now I just have to wait and see.

So, here’s hoping that it doesn’t rain tonight. I wonder if this could be Feng Shui related??
