What I found on the Internet was interesting. The bulk of them had to do with feminism.

Now I have nothing against feminism. I am a firm believer in equal pay for equal work, equal treatment, opportunities and recognition of achievements. But I do think, that in the feminist movement, something of the “specialness” of being a woman has been lost and we, as strong women representative of that group, need to bring those elements back into the definition of “woman.”

To be a woman is to be like a rosebud that slowly, over time, unfolds into what it is becoming. Being a woman is becoming! We start a journey as girls and turn into young women, then change again in our thirties or so, but we don’t stop there. As the age of 50 approaches (or passes depending on the individual woman), another more powerful metamorphisis takes place. And each one of these changes brings us closer to the woman we truly are, and stretches us into areas we never imagined we would struggle with. It also gives us victories and an interior satisfaction we never dreamt possible.

A woman is a human being that has depths unknown, even to herself. Her heart, as quoted below, is a multilayered ocean of secrets; she holds within her feelings about love, faith, children, friends, and never even indicates the depth of those feelings to those around her because of her busy life. I view woman as God’s most complex and beautiful creation, meant to not compete with man, but complement him in ways that fulfill both and bring a sense of balance to a world not ready for her depth and feminine power.

Just think about it.

Some Last Thoughts:
“She takes just like a woman, yes, she does
She makes love just like a woman, yes,
she does
And she aches just like a woman
But she breaks like a little girl.”
Bob Dylan

“One is not born a woman; one becomes one.
Simone de Beauvoir

“A woman can forgive a man for the harm he does her, but she can never forgive him for the sacrifices he makes on her account.”
W. Somerset Maugham

“A woman’s heart is a deep ocean of secrets.”
Rose – “Titanic”

“I am no man.”
Eowyn – “Return of the King: Lord of the Rings”

Technorati Tags: quotes, quotations, woman, women, song lyrics, movie quotes

Post from: Daily Jots

In Honor of Strawberry Ice Cream

Daily Jots

Song Lyrics

Thought of the Day: “It’s a rare plant,” he said, touching the sprig in my open hand. “Flowers, fruit and leaves all together at the one time. Now, it is true that my favorite flavor is Haagan Daz Coffee; that is an ice cream I will go out of my way to find. A close second is Breyer’s Rocky Road. But recently, I have tried to curb those chocolate cravings (something that good must be bad for you?) and I have tried something I never really gave a fair shake to before. Strawberry ice cream.

The verdict? I like it. A lot! Now, I must confess the thought crossed my mind that hot fudge on that strawberry would be heavenly but I dismissed the idea (didn’t have any hot fudge, anyway) and I have found the strawberry to be quite good.

It isn’t a deep thought. It isn’t out of the box in the least. It is merely a thought discovered within a carton of something I hadn’t tried before. I didn”t know about strawberry ice cream and I certainly didn’t know there was a day to observe how good it is. My advice? Go buy some in your preferred brand, get a good movie and a spoon, and just enjoy!

Just think about it.

Some Last Thoughts:

“Remember the Viper: ’twas close at your feet, How you started and threw yourself into my arms; Not a strawberry there was so ripe nor so sweet As the lips which I kiss’d to subdue your alarms.”
Robert Bloomfield

“Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see
It”s getting hard to be someone but it all works out, it doesn’t matter much to me
Let me take you down, ‘cos I”m going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real, and nothing to get hungabout.”
John Lennon/Paul McCartney
“Strawberry Fields Forever”

“One must ask children and birds how cherries and strawberries taste.”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

“We do not rejoice in victories. Let them swim in the deepest ocean or glide over the highest cloud.”
Professor Albus Dumbledore
“Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban”

Thinking Outside of the Box:
The word “dream” is a strange word. It can be a noun or a verb, and it can have two entirely different meanings. One definition of the word refers to defining a goal and using time and energy to reach that goal. The other definition refers to that state of mind we enter during sleep.

Many people do not remember their nightly dreams. We have been assured that all of us have dreams because of REM sleep, but I am one of those who will have to take that one on faith. I rarely remember a dream.

Other dreams stay with us. They are either good dreams that start our whole day on a positive note, or they are haunting and linger to disturb us for some time. When thought about, we can usually see what it is that is bothering us; it can be something we fear, an unpleasant memory, or some twisted version of normal events.

But what do we conclude from positive dreams – from those dreams that Professor Dumbledore referred to in the above quote? Perhaps they are guideposts that let us know we are on the right track or point the way to the proper path, if we are unsure of our journey. Maybe those dreams show us, symbolically, what we are capable of if we take a risk. Or maybe dreams are just what they seem – a theatre of the mind with a wildly unpredictable cast working from no script at all.

I know people say they are able to control their dreams. I personally cannot, but I guess if I don’t remember them, I can’t even be sure of that. I do love what Thomas Lovell Beddoes said though. “If there were dreams to sell, what would you buy?”

Just think about it.

Some Last Thoughts:
“Funny how your feet
In dreams never touch the earth…
These dreams go on when I close my eyes
Every second of the night I live another life.”
Heart, “These Dreams”

“Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.”
William Butler Yeats

“You know a dream is like a river
Ever changing as it flows.
And a dreamer’s just a vessel
That must follow where it goes.”
Garth Brooks

“I think we dream so we don’t have to be apart so long. Their thoughts are someone else’s opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.”
Oscar Wilde

Thinking Outside of the Box:

With six billion people on the planet, it is hard, at times, to think about what it is to be an individual. That’s a lot of people. No two alike they say – well, twins are similar and certainly alike in the DNA department, but their own experiences shape a different personality. So bottom line: Everyone is an individual and there never was before, or will be again, anyone like you.

That’s a big thing. But its a really big thing when we diss off our own individuality. We become like The Borg, just part of a collective hive all operating together. We arent even aware we are doing it. We see it in teenagers and talk about peer pressure but adults are just as guilty of it. It isn’t about keeping up with the “Joneses,” but it’s about being politically correct, having acceptable thoughts and lifestyles and fitting in.

Where does that leave the individual? Perhaps he or she only comes out at night when the blinds are pulled against the world. It is safe to be eccentric then. Eccentric? Too strong of a word? Not really, because now society views anything that falls outside of the narrow road of normal, as being eccentric.

That’s a shame. Theres a lot of wonderful individual and creative people out there that are too afraid to think their own thoughts and do their own actions. So they do other peoples thoughts and actions. We mimic. And that’s not good. The world is full of diversity and color and is interesting because of people who aren’t afraid to be individuals. Forget the cookie cutter personality – open the blinds, be eccentric. That IS good.

Some Last Thoughts:

“… spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there’s always one reason
to feel not good enough
and it’s hard at the end of the day.”
Sarah McLachlan

“Oh think twice, it’s another day for
You and me in paradise
Oh think twice, it’s just another day for you,
You and me in paradise.”
Phil Collins

“It is better to do thine own duty, however lacking in merit, than to do that of another, even though efficiently. It is better to die doing one’s own duty, for to do the duty of another is fraught with danger.”
Gita Bhagavad

“I am,” I said
To no one there
An no one heard at all
Not even the chair
“I am,” I cried
“I am,” said I
And I am lost, and I can’t even say why
Leavin’ me lonely still.”
Neil Diamond

Post from: Daily Jots
