100 Words – January 2nd

Yes, I came into my office before I even went down to breakfast. My brain feels a bit muddy this morning and I needed a bit of inspiration before I start blogging. I clicked on “StumbleUpon” and sure enough it took me straight to a site that talks about writing 100 words a day… no more and no less. The site even gives you little “stories” completed in yes… 100 words.

Now if you took that idea for each blog… sort of brainstorming, I don’t think that you would have a problem coming up with something to write about each day.

And it all starts with 100 words which is about 4 lines in length! I think that I can do that!

What Did You Do While On Vacation…

There are going to be people in your future who will only know you by a name, perhaps a photo and just maybe a birthdate and the date of your death. Give them a little more by sharing a bit about your life! Here are a few questions to get you started, but the more questions you can come up with the better.

1. The best vacation ever…
2. The worst vacation ever…
3. The best souvenir you ever found
4. The worst souvenir

I can only wish I had asked my grandmother questions like this! Sadly, it never occurred to me and I will never know.

So You Think You Can Dance

I’m the only one in our family who has been following So You Think You Can Dance and I’m hooked. These kids blow me away! But last night… whatever were they thinking. Apparently 8 million people voted and Dmitri gets voted off the show?? This kid is brilliant and I’m really going to miss him. I certainly didn’t see it coming!

“Patches of Godlight”

There are a lot of quotations books – good ones – but every now and then one comes along that is absolutely inspired. I found this book in, of all places, Walmart; I picked up a copy, and then another copy for a gift… well, I could have bought a dozen. It really is that good.

The book is titled, “Patches of Godlight,” and is “written” by Father Tim Kavanagh. I put the author’s name in quotes because the author is a character in the well loved “Mitford Series,” written by Jan Karon. All of the books in the series, and related to the series, are ones I would recommend, but this quotation book is something special.

Written in Father Kavanagh’s own hand, “Patches of Godlight,” is a collection of the character’s favorite quotations and thoughts. This book is a bit like finding a journal and being given permission to read it. The quotes are inspirational, gentle, and inspiring; they give insight into the character of the Episcopal priest and the story author Karon has crafted.

“Patches of Godlight,” is a book that will comfort you when you are saddened, boost you when you need some motivation, and always find the time to give you hope for the future.
