Just got in late last night, so for the next ten days or so, I plan to soak up the culture. But I have a great restaurant to tell you about… it’s called Islands and although we had to wait for ever to get a table, the wait was worth it. I had a Hawaiian Hamburger and I simply couldn’t finish it. I have never seen a hamburger that big! And you don’t order one serving of french fries, you order them by the bucket to share.
And oh yes… the weather was amazing. We left -10C weather and while I was too tired to inquire what the temperature was last night, we are back to tank tops and flip flops. Doesn’t get much better than that.
I will try to log in later today with an update of what I saw. What it will be at this point I haven’t a clue, but I trust that I will enjoy every minute of it!

Such a boring topic I know, but I find that if you take a few minutes to review your schedule each day, you get a lot more accomplished by the end of the week. And that means a sense of accomplishment. People are always asking me how I pile so much into my day and it’s all because of how I schedule things.
But, I make sure that I also leave time for play!! No play makes people awfully boring!

That’s all you have… twenty minutes to kick back and do just what you want to do. So, what’s it going to be? Believe it or not, I actually have a book about that very topic. Yes, I do collect a lot of books and sometimes I even open them up to see what they are about!
I just noticed that it’s listed for $2.99! I just looked at the back of the book and I paid $18.95. Guess I should have waited!

You have to love fireworks, but what if you could design you own show? Now would that be cool or what? That’s what I happened to stumble upon earlier this week and seeing that everyone needs a little play time on a regular basis, I thought that I would share. Now go and see what you can come up with!!

The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another’s desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together.
~Erma Bombeck
And I wouldn’t trade even one of the “little band of characters” that make up my family.

That’s right, today is officially Checkers Day. I have to admit that I haven’t played in years and I don’t even know if we still have a checkers board. But, I just might have to invest in one. How expensive can they be these days? Actually, my daughter is decorating her room in all things dragons, so I wonder if she would want a dragon checker set. It certainly makes more sense (from a mother’s point of view) than those little shot glass checker board games.
Now on the other hand, those shot glass games might work if we fill the shot glasses with Smarties?? Hey, that’s working for me. Here’s to a game where chocolate is the prize!!

Miniature Golf Bag Can Holder
My parents were golf fanatics but I just couldn’t get into the game. For one thing, I hated having a zillion people waiting for me to move on to the next hole and that pretty much ruined the game for me. Maybe if I had the entire gold course to myself, my game might have improved, but it never happened.
Now miniature golf is something entirely different. Now that is just plain fun. You don’t have to be serious with miniature golf. If you want to kick the ball, no one really complains. It’s all about having fun and that is today’s weird holiday.
So just how good are you at miniature golf??

Didn’t even know that there was such a day until we were on vacation in Cornwall a few years ago and suddenly everyone on the radio stations started… talking like a pirate. We thought that it was just something whimsical because we were in Cornwall, but apparently that isn’t the case. It was actually two Americans who came up with the idea!
And believe it or not, I even found a site that offers Pirate ringtones for your cell! Now how cool is that?? And in case your Mouse Pad has seen better days, how about a skeleton pirate mousepad for your desk??

There are going to be people in your future who will only know you by a name, perhaps a photo and just maybe a birthdate and the date of your death. Give them a little more by sharing a bit about your life! Here are a few questions to get you started, but the more questions you can come up with the better.
1. The best vacation ever…
2. The worst vacation ever…
3. The best souvenir you ever found
4. The worst souvenir
I can only wish I had asked my grandmother questions like this! Sadly, it never occurred to me and I will never know.
