Create a Da Vinci style treasure hunt

Create a Da Vinci style treasure hunt

“Whether you follow or avoid the trends of popular culture, social instigators like Dan Brown are there to bring our collective attention back to something we may otherwise have missed. Before The Da Vinci Code, the Mona Lisa, the Madonna of the Rocks, and the Last Supper were paintings we’d always known about but never really looked at properly. Simply by adding a little intrigue, some clues hidden in the symbolism of a painting, and the promise of a treasure hunt, an artist who died centuries ago captured the imagination of twenty-first century readers.
So, imagine what a well-planned treasure …read more

Where Did You Meet Him

Where Did You Meet Him

I’m tired and cranky. We had bull dozers show up in our yard at 7:30 on a Saturday and I just wasn’t ready to get up, so for the rest of the day, my mind has just been mush. So, I thought that maybe some of you would have some interesting tales to tell… for example… where did you meet your husband?
I met mine at a New Year’s Eve Party. It was a blind date if you can believe it!

The Inscrutable 8-Ball Revealed

The Inscrutable 8-Ball Revealed

My best friend in grade 8 had the infamous 8-Ball and we would ask it questions by the hour. Most of the time it was about boys. So, when I happened upon this site, I was hooked. It was their intention to take it apart to find out how it worked. I wanted to know too!

Now about that blue liquid… just what was that stuff??

The Dragonfly Picture Frame

The Dragonfly Picture Frame

Seeing this frame just reminded me of how many photos are stuck in boxes or photo albums and never enjoyed. I have tons of wall space in the new house. Maybe I should fill them up with photos that we have collected over the years.
And if you have been watching my other blogs, yes, I’m still on the Dragonfly kick. Something or someone is trying to tell me something!!

Free Genealogical Data Bases

Free Genealogical Data Bases

I only wish that I had the time to really dig into my family history, but there simply doesn’t seem to be enough hours in a day for stuff like this. But I thought that I would pass this along for those of you who are more organized that I seem to be.

From what I can gather, there are different data bases available each day and someone who will even do the looking for you. I plugged in one name and now I’m waiting to see if anything shows up.
How far have you managed to get with your family …read more

Living in the Present

Living in the Present

I believe that only one person in a thousand knows the trick of really living in the present.
Storm Jameson
I have to admit that I do think a lot about what it was like when the kids were little and never gave it much thought before I read that quote. I guess it is saying that we miss out on so much of what is going on right now, when we constantly live in the past or worry what is coming in the future??
I’m going to have to work on this. I’m going to try really hard not to let …read more

The Night Sky

The Night Sky

I can’t remember the last time I simply sat outside and looked at the night sky which leads me to wonder just how much I’ve missed over the years. And that probably goes for a lot of things in my life. We are simply too busy to slow down and look to see what is right in front of us!!
I remember staring at the Big Dipper in the night sky as a kid and was blown away by its magnificence! Have I become too jaded?

What Life Is

What Life Is

Life isn’t a matter of milestones but of moments.
Rose Fitgerald Kennedy
I have to keep reminding myself of that. The days slip by soooo quickly these days and if someone asked me what happened a week ago, I couldn’t tell them. I think the answer might be a diary where I could record special little moments that occur every day. And they do occur, I am so busy with a hundred other things on my mind, that they don’t even make it to my long term memory.
Now for a laugh, I should start a cooking diary. I could record all …read more

About Gardens

About Gardens

“All Gardeners live in beautiful places because they make it so.”
Joseph Joubert
That is so true. I remember one garden years ago that positively took my breath away. An elderly lady took her entire back yard and filled it with tiny paths, benches and beds of every sort of iris she could find. It must have taken a ton of work, but it was spectacular!
What a beautiful place to spend a morning with a hot cup of coffee!
