Someone tell me why this is so hard? Because you are a celebrity, family no longer comes first? The only thing that occurs to me is the fact that is there a chance that everyone could move to the U.S. so Victoria can take the job but still be close to her family?

I’m tired and cranky. We had bull dozers show up in our yard at 7:30 on a Saturday and I just wasn’t ready to get up, so for the rest of the day, my mind has just been mush. So, I thought that maybe some of you would have some interesting tales to tell… for example… where did you meet your husband?

I met mine at a New Year’s Eve Party. It was a blind date if you can believe it!

We are one another’s angels… unknown

So, that would mean that we need to do an extra good turn or two each day right? And those thoughtless words that we utter without a thought for feelings that we might hurt? I think that we are going to have to be more careful in the future. It take’s so little to be kind to someone.

By now everyone knows that their four year marriage isn’t working out and it is going to cost McCartney big time. Something like a million for every week that they were together. You have to wonder why he didn’t insist on a pre-nuptual agreement.

“The Haunted,” is one of those movies that is less than a blockbuster.  Aidan Quinn and Kate Beckinsale went on to stardom in spite of it, not because of it.  But it had a couple of redeeming points and this quote was one of them.

Today is the birth date of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States.  He is remembered for many things:  Leading the country during the Civil War, taking a stand against slavery, and delivering powerful speeches that students still memorize are just a few of history’s notations.

What is not as well known is the devotion and love Lincoln and his wife had for each other.  We toss the word “soulmate” around a lot and it is understandable why - everyone hopes to find their own soulmate and have a love that lasts a lifetime and beyond.

Mary Todd Lincoln was Abraham Lincoln’s soulmate.  She was the world and all to him, and he often commented how he had fallen in love with the young woman nine years his junior, and that he had never fallen out. 

On a horrible night in April of 1865, President Lincoln was shot while enjoying a play.  That is a story that every student in America is taught.  But what isn’t taught, is the testimony to the strength of love Mary Todd Lincoln gave that night. 

While Lincoln was on his deathbed, she was in the room twisting her wedding band in fear and distraction.  At the moment of the President’s death, someone with the family said, “Now he belongs to the ages.” 

Mary looked up and said quite firmly, “He belongs to me.  Our love is eternal.”

It is a sad story, but the Lincoln’s marriage and love tell us much about true love - it does exist and it can be found!

Thinking Outside of the Box:
Leopold knew it. He probably was one of only a handful of men that did. Flowers speak a secret and silent language. Their language is the language of love.

Just about everyone knows that roses stand for love, but did you know different colors mean different things? For instance, a dark pink rose means “thank you,” but its light pink sister means “admiration.” And if you receive (or give) a rose that is a blended orange and yellow, that means passionate thoughts are blooming.

A Note to the Ladies:
Now if you get a combination of a red tulip and a tuberose, you better watch out. That is a declaration of undying love, along with a plea to believe (in the undying love) and a promise of dangerous pleasures! But if a purple hyacinth has been placed in your hand, forgive him - he really does mean it. If you are expecting a new member into your family, and you haven’t figured out how to tell him, send him a Day Lily.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Don’t just buy a standard bouquet that someone else has put together. Put exactly into it what you feel and want to say. Attach a letter, handwritten (no computer word processors for this one), and deliver it to the love of your life. You might receive Ambrosia or Heliotrope in return!

February is Heart Month. Of course, we know about Valentine’s Day. That is a big one. But did you know it is also Heart Month, in terms of health? During the month we celebrate love, organizations and individuals work to make others aware of heart health.

I know a lot about this issue. I lost my husband to a sudden massive heart attack when he was only 55. There was no warning at all, but suddenly, he was gone. Heart attack awareness became an issue for me that night in a way I never thought possible.

Heart Disease remains the biggest killer of both men and women in the United States. Being aware of the risks and decreasing your risk profile, is the best gift you can give the one you love on Valentine’s Day.
