Just in case you didn’t know… yes, it’s National Sugar Cookie Day and that means you need to get baking. I don’t think that a cookbook exists that doesn’t offer at least one recipe for sugar cookies, but if you are stuck, I looked one up for you. Here it is!
And if you have little kids in your house, you are going to want to sprinkle your cookies generously with colored sugar. Don’t ask me why this makes them 100x better, but according to my kids, it did just that!

Seeing this frame just reminded me of how many photos are stuck in boxes or photo albums and never enjoyed. I have tons of wall space in the new house. Maybe I should fill them up with photos that we have collected over the years.

I’ve been sitting here with a cup of coffee thinking about life and have come to the conclusion that children know a lot more than we do. It’s Saturday morning and I’m already working and three of them are on the sidewalk below chatting and laughing and drawing with huge pieces of sidewalk chalk.
The secret to life must be the ability to find enjoyment in the simplest of things. Children seem to excell at it! Maybe I need to find my inner child?? I think she must still be in there somewhere!

I was just sitting here thinking about the last twenty years of my life. Raising two kids with completely different personalities certainly gave me a few gray hairs over the years. I can stil remember trying to share our experiences, especially with my headstrong son, but did you know that life when we were teens is nothing like what kids had to endure in the nineties?? There are going to be times when circumstances will leave you feeling overwhelmed and scared out of your mind. I don’t think there is a parent alive who hasn’t experienced this kind of stress. Your daughter hasn’t arrived home when you expected and suddenly all sorts of scenarios start racing through your mind.
