Today’s Thought for the Day

Today’s Thought for the Day

Most people don’t like to be told what to do regardless of their age. And the same people probably don’t like being told what they can’t do either. In my mind, the best thing to do is allow them to do things their way. Who knows what they can come up with when they are left alone. And from experience, most people will probably ask for help if they want it.

About Delegating

About Delegating

I don’t know why it is, but I’m not very good at delegating… anything. Oh, I take that back, I’m really good at delegating the cooking in our home, but most of the time I prefer to do things myself. But I was just reading that a wise woman shares her tasks. I wonder why that is so hard for me??
Sharing and taking turns… maybe I missed that lesson when I was growing up. I wonder?? Could there be a connection there somewhere?? All I can remember is that for most of our childhood years, I really didn’t have …read more

Dear Person

Dear Person

Now you have to admit… this is funny!

And it annoys the hell out of me when I see someone park across two parking spaces. It’s like saying that my car is better than yours so I need two spaces.
Big Grin!!

Talk Like a Pirate Day – September 19th

Talk Like a Pirate Day – September 19th

Didn’t even know that there was such a day until we were on vacation in Cornwall a few years ago and suddenly everyone on the radio stations started… talking like a pirate. We thought that it was just something whimsical because we were in Cornwall, but apparently that isn’t the case. It was actually two Americans who came up with the idea!
And believe it or not, I even found a site that offers Pirate ringtones for your cell! Now how cool is that?? And in case your Mouse Pad has seen better days, how about a skeleton pirate …read more

Just Be You

Just Be You

Sometimes that’s all you have to be. We spend so much time trying to be something we are not while underneath, we have so much to offer. It seems that it is just too easy to be fake. All of those celebrities that annoy you at the moment… I wonder what they are really like?
You have to feel a little sorry for those twenty something actresses who are trying so hard… not to get left behind.

Permanent PMS

Permanent PMS

Yes, sometimes I feel that has to be it. What else could explain how often I lose it lately. It just seems to happen on a daily basis. Now it’s a flood in the cold room in the basement. Yes, we have called head office and they aren’t responding. Big surprise there.
But I’m turning this around. What are three things in your life that you are actually grateful for. I for one need to concentrate on those things rather than a brand new house that is falling apart!
Done…
So, I want some good things to think about. What …read more

It’s National Trail Mix Day

It’s National Trail Mix Day

I’ll pass thank you. Can’t stand the fact that they put dried fruit into it and then there is not enough salted nuts. Yeah I know that salt isn’t good for you, but it just tastes so darn good. Now my idea of Trail Mix would be as follows…
-lots of salted nuts
-beer nuts
-regular peanuts (great big fat ones)
-Thompson raisins. I guess it do like some dried fruit after all. I forgot about raisins!
And then top it up with tons of Crunch n’ Munch… that stuff is to die for!
Now if I didn’t have to worry about high blood …read more

Capture Great Shots with your Phone

Capture Great Shots with your Phone

“One of the reasons people leave their pictures imprisoned in their camera phones is that they’re disappointed with the shots they’ve taken. The images are too blurry or too washed out, or the perspective is distorted. In detecting details, film cameras and digital cameras are more limited than the human eye, and camera phones, in turn, are more limited than both film and digital cameras. For that reason, you not only need to apply basic photographic principles to get the best-looking pictures possible, you need to be aware of and know how to compensate for your camera phone’s deficiencies.”
To be …read more

Knit Yourself a Ferrari

Knit Yourself a Ferrari

Looking for something to keep you busy over the next few months??. Okay, Lauren Porter knitted her Ferrari for her honors degree, but you have to admit, what she accomplished is pretty impressive.

“The classic red bodywork consists of 250 squares of garter stitch made by Lauren and 20 family members and friends. It’s all supported by a steel frame which Lauren, 22, of Greatham, Hants, welded herself.”

That Coffee Business

That Coffee Business

I think that I have kicked it entirely. Sure hope that I haven’t spoken too soon, but I haven’t touched a drop in over a week. But here is what made it all worth while. Britt said yesterday that my teeth look a lot whiter. I didn’t even ask her… she just brought it up out of no where!
I shouldn’t have brought this up. Already, I’m starting to think about a cup this morning. It’s Saturday and that usually means a long leisurely breakfast with a larger than usual pot of coffee! I’m going to have to be very …read more
