Building Characters

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Creating Unforgettable CharactersI was just reading an article about organizing your kitchen and keeping it neat. That lead me to wonder what kind of character you could build (for your next novel) if he or she had the untidiest kitchen you could ever imagine. As I write this about a zillion possibilities are popping into my mind.

What about a serial killer?

Talk to Me: Conversation Tips for the Small-Talk ChallengedI don’t know why this is so hard, but having a lesson or two would have made certain parties that I have attended a whole lot easier to get through. Why is it that certain people leave you tongue tied, when there are other times when you simply can’t shut up??

Just Keep Shooting - January 4th

Thursday, January 4th, 2007

Boone(R) Grip -N Write™ Dry-Erase Board, 36in. x 48in., Mahogany/Black FrameBig shots are only little shots who keep shooting!
Christopher Morley

Ask anyone who knows me… I have absolutely no patience what-so-ever and when I want something, I want it now. I don’t want to wait for anything!

In a way, I suppose that is a good way to be. To some degree, my lack of patience has paid off in the past. When I want something, I don’t stop until I get it. I make things happen!

But, I am going to write down this quote and stick it up on my bulletin board. It won’t stop me from going after what I want, but it just might help with the patience issue. :)

100 Words - January 2nd

Tuesday, January 2nd, 2007

Cristalle Beveled Glass Note Holder, Holds 3in. x 3in. NotesYes, I came into my office before I even went down to breakfast. My brain feels a bit muddy this morning and I needed a bit of inspiration before I start blogging. I clicked on “StumbleUpon” and sure enough it took me straight to a site that talks about writing 100 words a day… no more and no less. The site even gives you little “stories” completed in yes… 100 words.

Now if you took that idea for each blog… sort of brainstorming, I don’t think that you would have a problem coming up with something to write about each day.

And it all starts with 100 words which is about 4 lines in length! I think that I can do that!

Catherine Zeta-Jones Majorly Pissed

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

Darling Buds of May Collection (7pc) Doesn anyone remember Catherine Zeta-Jone’s character from the British series “The Darling Buds of May?” Well, at the moment she is nothing like Mariette. She is big time pissed off at her husband. Here’s what I found this morning.

“Catherine Zeta-Jones is furious with her husband Michael Douglas, after he gushed about his sexy co-stars.

The 62-year-old actor revealed he had a “crush on Kim Basinger” and complimented Eva Longoria on her “fantastic butt” during a recent interview to promote his film ‘The Sentinel’. Michael also proclaimed that “sex is like a wave that sweeps over me”.

However, his 37-year-old Welsh actress wife was not amused by his comments and immediately telephoned him to tell him exactly how she felt.”

So can you blame her? I think that I would be just as “annoyed”?? if my husband began gushing over the women at work. So, I feel for her and I hope that he shapes up. Just because he insists that he would always be faithful to her, he is obviously thinking about the possibilities. I could give him a good smack too!

TomKat Say “Ciao” to Italian Wedding

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

Tom KatI guess when you have as much money as these two, you can pretty much get married where ever you want to, but if you had the chance to do it over again, would you choose your own family church or would you go exotic?

I guess the time of year should come into it to some extent. I got married a week before Christmas and wouldn’t you know it, that was the weekend a snowstorm decided to descend upon us! So, now that I have thoroughly confused you, would you choose a foreign locale like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, or would you still choose the family church?

Victoria Beckham falls prey to the pooch parading celeb craze!

Saturday, October 14th, 2006

Learning to Fly: The Autobiography: The Autobiography“It seems that socialite Paris Hilton is not the only celeb who likes small pets perched on her arm as she struts around, now former Spice girl Victoria Beckham has also joined the pooch-carrying ranks of celebrities.

The 32-year-old has bought a Yorkshire terrier toy dog and named it after 60s model Twiggy.”

I just don’t get this?? It’s already been done before and the gossip columns are always quick to point out that you aren’t the first, so what makes women, especially as high profile as Victoria Beckham get on the bandwagon and be a follower. I would have thought that she would have wanted to set the next trend. What am I missing here??

Thought For the Day…

Self-Defeating Behaviors: Free Yourself from the Habits, Compulsions, Feelings, and Attitudes That Hold You BackQuit and you get no where. I have never been the most patient person, but somewhere along the line, I learned that if you want something badly enough, you have to work at it. If you quit, it’s never going to happen. If you stick with it, who knows, you just might pull it off. At least you have a better chance at succeeding than if you quit.

Families Are Funny That Way

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

Inside My Heart: Choosing to Live with Passion and PurposeThe family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another’s desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together.

~Erma Bombeck

And I wouldn’t trade even one of the “little band of characters” that make up my family.

How Full Is Your Bucket? Positive Strategies for Work and LifeWe are usually so busy thinking about what we have to do next week, that we spend little or no time thinking about the incredible people that we have met through the years. One person who has made the biggest impression on me would be my Uncle Stan. If anyone can put a smile on your face or always finds the time to put family first, it would be that man!
