Think of them as sunscreen for the eyes. They shield your eyes from wind, dust, and drying, as well as UV (ultraviolet) rays, visible light, and glare. Many experts think that lifetime exposure to UV helps cause cataracts and other eye disorders, though there is some controversy about just how much damage sunlight does, or what percentage of cataracts are caused by it. Blue light, part of the visible spectrum, may damage the retina and impair vision. It makes sense to protect your eyes. Bright sunlight and glare are unpleasant or even painful, and can be hazardous if you are driving or playing a sport. ”

It’s the cataracts that scare me. When I was little and having my eyes checked, I’m sure that I heard the optomotrist state that I will have cataracts when I’m older. I don’t know why he would say that or if I completely dreamed it up, but it has always been in the back of my mind.

And now my mother (for the past few years) has been going through laser surgery to remove them. It seems that they might be running in the family. But, if I can do something to prevent them or slow them down, I’m all for it. That’s why I have been ordering my sunglasses along with my prescription pair that I use for distance.

Source

Post from: Daily Jots

5 Things to Be Happy About Kind of Day- January 9th

Aging

Christmas

Contentment

Daily Jots

Health

Well, as you are reading this, I’m in Port Charlotte, Florida and I’m still on vacation. Yes, I own that one and the earlier version as well. I wonder when someone will remake it yet again?? I love to see how they tweak the story each time! Can’t say which version is my favorite… like the both equally!

Miracle on 34th Street – Older Version
Miracle on 34th Street

Source

Post from: Daily Jots

I have shopping bags under my eyes

Daily Jots

Health

Makeup

Odd Things

Relaxing

Shopping

I don’t know if I can blame it on all of the shopping I have been doing lately, or it’s the fact that I have been waking up at 3:30 am every morning wide awake!! And this morning is no different, so I decided that I would see if there is something that I could do about them that does not require less shopping.

Well, the first thing that I read was about putting a bag of frozen peas against the area. Yes, that would work lol…, but maybe an cooling eye gel mask with a 15 minute break would work. And it seems that I have to change my makeup as well. Everything has to suddenly be applied to draw the eye up (and away from my bags) and here is something I didn’t know. Apparently a zinc-oxide ointment will held delate the bags. Must try that one!!

Any tricks that you would like to share??

More info about The Shopping Bags: Tips, Tricks, and Inside Information to Make You a Savvy Shopper

Post from: Daily Jots

Today’s Weird Holiday… Sore Feet Day

Daily Jots

Health

Odd Things

Weird Holidays

If your feet have been driving you nuts the last few days, it’s because it’s today’s holiday.
