Relaxing a Little Each Day

The Winter Garden: Create a Garden that Shines Through the Forgotten SeasonBritt and I have gotten into the habit of going for a walk each morning. It’s cold and I hate it, but I’m kind of glad that we did. No one else seems to be out and yesterday we stopped at one of our neighborhood parks and we had it all to ourselves. We sat on a bench, watched the clouds for a while and even checked out the playground equipment.

When was the last time you actually sat on one of those bouncy animals and not felt like an idiot? Luckily there was no one around lol…

Don’t know what I’m going to do when my landscaping daughter goes back to work in the spring. I’m kind of liking the company!

Gina Lollobrigida marries a man 34 years her junior

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

gina

Gina Lollobrigida, once dubbed “the most beautiful woman in the world” after the title of one of her movies, is getting married to a man 34 years her junior.

“We wanted for this to happen sooner, but it just wasn’t possible,” Lollobrigida, 79, told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Thursday, without elaborating.

Lollobrigida said she met her husband to be, Javier Rigau y Rafols of Barcelona, Spain, at a party in Monte-Carlo and the two have been dating for 22 years.

While I can understand the need for companionship as you get older, what do you think about marrying someone that much younger than you? Personally, I obviously wish them the best, but I don’t think that I could do it.

And yes, I’m talking from experience. My husband is four years younger than I am and I couldn’t handle him being any younger than that.

Families Are Funny That Way

Inside My Heart: Choosing to Live with Passion and PurposeThe family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another’s desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together.

~Erma Bombeck

And I wouldn’t trade even one of the “little band of characters” that make up my family.

How Full Is Your Bucket? Positive Strategies for Work and LifeWe are usually so busy thinking about what we have to do next week, that we spend little or no time thinking about the incredible people that we have met through the years. One person who has made the biggest impression on me would be my Uncle Stan. If anyone can put a smile on your face or always finds the time to put family first, it would be that man!

About Delegating

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

Share and Take Turns (Learning to Get Along, Book 1)I don’t know why it is, but I’m not very good at delegating… anything. Oh, I take that back, I’m really good at delegating the cooking in our home, but most of the time I prefer to do things myself. But I was just reading that a wise woman shares her tasks. I wonder why that is so hard for me??

Sharing and taking turns… maybe I missed that lesson when I was growing up. I wonder?? Could there be a connection there somewhere?? All I can remember is that for most of our childhood years, I really didn’t have all that much to do with my sisters. My middle sister preferred to play with my younger sister.

Maybe I was a bitch who didn’t like to share lol, and grew up into an adult who doesn’t like to delegate?? Can anyone see a connection there?

19 Ways to Annoy People

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

The Woman Who Is Always Tan and Has a Flat Stomach (And Other Annoying People)Do you aspire to get under the skin of a complete stranger? Do you enjoy bringing a ray of monkeyshine into the life of a loved one? If so, give these techniques a whirl.

Most how-tos teach us something useful. Not this one. It’s just plain funny, like the man who buys an ultra romantic tenth anniversary card when it’ their nineth anniversary. And that’s just number one. There are eighteen more that are just as funny.

Friendship Freeze-Out

Monday, September 11th, 2006

friends“When famous friends Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie publicly parted ways last year, tabloids ate up the story with the same fervour reserved for a TomKat sighting. Sure, any celebrity feud is hot gossip, but this tale of a female friendship gone bad was particularly juicy. Why? Because we’ve all been there.”

It really does hurt especially when you have done nothing wrong. I had a friend who lost her husband to another woman and of course she was devastated. But then suddenly she wanted nothing to do with me either. I have tried numerous times to make contact (even after moving to a new town) and all I get is repeated silence.

And from what I have been reading, it seems that this is more common than I ever imagined.

I have finally decided just to let go.

What Friendship Is

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

Vital Friends: The People You Can't Afford to Live Without“Friendship is one mind in two bodies.”
-Menclus

“A friend is one who walks in when others walk out”
-Walter Winchell

“Your friend is the man who knows all about you, and still likes you.”
- Elbert Hubbard

Is there someone in your life that fits those descriptions?? And even more importantly, does that describe you??
