Gina Lollobrigida marries a man 34 years her junior

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

gina

Gina Lollobrigida, once dubbed “the most beautiful woman in the world” after the title of one of her movies, is getting married to a man 34 years her junior.

“We wanted for this to happen sooner, but it just wasn’t possible,” Lollobrigida, 79, told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Thursday, without elaborating.

Lollobrigida said she met her husband to be, Javier Rigau y Rafols of Barcelona, Spain, at a party in Monte-Carlo and the two have been dating for 22 years.

While I can understand the need for companionship as you get older, what do you think about marrying someone that much younger than you? Personally, I obviously wish them the best, but I don’t think that I could do it.

And yes, I’m talking from experience. My husband is four years younger than I am and I couldn’t handle him being any younger than that.

Catherine Zeta-Jones Majorly Pissed

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

Darling Buds of May Collection (7pc) Doesn anyone remember Catherine Zeta-Jone’s character from the British series “The Darling Buds of May?” Well, at the moment she is nothing like Mariette. She is big time pissed off at her husband. Here’s what I found this morning.

“Catherine Zeta-Jones is furious with her husband Michael Douglas, after he gushed about his sexy co-stars.

The 62-year-old actor revealed he had a “crush on Kim Basinger” and complimented Eva Longoria on her “fantastic butt” during a recent interview to promote his film ‘The Sentinel’. Michael also proclaimed that “sex is like a wave that sweeps over me”.

However, his 37-year-old Welsh actress wife was not amused by his comments and immediately telephoned him to tell him exactly how she felt.”

So can you blame her? I think that I would be just as “annoyed”?? if my husband began gushing over the women at work. So, I feel for her and I hope that he shapes up. Just because he insists that he would always be faithful to her, he is obviously thinking about the possibilities. I could give him a good smack too!

The Last Knit

Sunday, October 1st, 2006

Today, I have a little project for you. For the next 12 hours or so, you are going to do absolutely nothing. Well nothing that is work related anyway. Just sit back and enjoy life. That’s where this video comes in. I actually sat for the entire 6 plus minutes and watched a video called… The Last Knit. It’s not as if I’m a knitter, because I’m not, but I couldn’t help wondering where it would go, especially for six minutes.

And if I find that a video doesn’t hold my attention, I’m not above hitting the cancel button, but not with this one. It was well made and entertaining. Enjoy! Here’s to a great first Sunday in October as well as my brother’s birthday.

Happy Birthday Jim :)

Autumn Colors, New Hampshire

There is music in the meadows, in the air–
Autumn is here;
Skies are gray, but hearts are mellow,

“A Lyric of Autumn,” Lyrics of Life and Love (1904)

Families Are Funny That Way

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

Inside My Heart: Choosing to Live with Passion and PurposeThe family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another’s desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together.

~Erma Bombeck

And I wouldn’t trade even one of the “little band of characters” that make up my family.

Five Things for a Monday

Monday, September 25th, 2006

I don’t go to school anymore. I don’t work outside of the home, but I still hate Mondays. Doesn’t make a lot of sense does it? So, to get me out of my mood this morning, I thought that I would write down just five things to make me feel at least a little bit better.

1. The trees behind our house are turning the more gorgeous colors. (Not making a huge difference at the moment as I think those trees and other stuff in the fields are doing some horrible things to my sinuses…

2. The grass is thick and lush… we are still waiting for the grass to be delivered in the front yard. Does’t seem to be working yet, does it??

3. It will soon be time to start thinking about Halloween… now that has always been one of my favorite holidays, so that is working a wee bit.

4. All of the housework for the day is done… that really makes me feel better!

5. We have holidays coming in December. Three weeks where it’s going to be warm and sunny. Yup, that did it!!

How Full Is Your Bucket?

How Full Is Your Bucket? Positive Strategies for Work and LifeWe are usually so busy thinking about what we have to do next week, that we spend little or no time thinking about the incredible people that we have met through the years. One person who has made the biggest impression on me would be my Uncle Stan. If anyone can put a smile on your face or always finds the time to put family first, it would be that man!

Thought for Today - The Best Place to Write a Novel

Saturday, September 23rd, 2006

Will Write for Shoes: How to Write a Chick Lit NovelI find that the best place to write is in the bathtub. I set the clock for an hour and then put the notebook on a low table beside the tub. Laying there soaking, you have nothing to do but relax and think while in the tub and all that thinking can go straight into your journal.

And if you have always wanted to write a novel… I swear this is the best place to do it. I have a closet full of stories that some day I just might get out and polish up. But if nothing else, they were sure fun to write!

It’s Indian Summer Day… because I said so!

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

Indian Summer

Unless your family is huge, holidays can be few and far between. That’s why I particularly like these weird holidays that I try to track down for you every day. But if for some reason, the day’s holiday doesn’t work for you, simply go out and make up one of your own. For example, as I look out the window, the view almost takes your breath away. The colors aren’t this intense quite yet, but the trees are beginning to turn so we could celebrate “Indian Summer Day”. And for dinner I could look up some native recipes to serve. If nothing else, I could always whip up a batch of bannock to go with homemade soup.

It’s National Cream Filled Donut Day

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

The Donut Book
Now does it get much better than that?? I really can’t remember the last time I even had a donut, let alone one that was filled with cream. So, if you are considering a dull old muffin to go with your cup of coffee at break time this morning, you have been given the go-ahead to choose a cream filled donut instead. It’s allowed! ;)

Special Days this month…
