I’m working on the “contant worrying thing” because it does nothing good for the body. And I just found out that if you give in to worrying, cortisol levels in your body remain high and the additional pounds go along for the ride. Why is this? Apparently cortisol increases your hunger levels. How do you handle it? Get physical so that you forget your worries and burn up those new calories.

I am not a big fan of Ernest Hemingway’s work.  That has never been a secret.  I acknowledge that in literary terms he is a good writer – probably one of the best.  I respect the tenacity he had to make his writing as compact, meaningful, and perfect as possible.  He never wasted words; each word in a book propelled the story.  But I still don’t like the stories he told all that well.

I didn’t know that dogs outnumbered cats by so many! In 2004, which is the last year the NPPMA has statistics for, 63% of American households had a dog. Only 34% had cats. Birds, reptiles and small animals all were in the single digits.

I had planned on writing this particular piece about Christmas – the whole “day after” thing. But something horrible happened on Christmas this year, and I feel a need to share it with you.
