It’s Comic Book Day

It’s Comic Book Day

Did you ever read comic books when you were a kid? I was never a big fan, but I do think that I read Archie. There were a couple of girls in that storyline right?? A Veronica comes to mind, but that’s about all I can remember.
I wonder how much one of the early Archie comic books would be worth now? I know that Britt has a box full of really old ones that someone gave to her. She might be sitting on a gold mine and not even know it!
Any old comic books collecting dust in your attic??

Now This is Scary

Now This is Scary

Have to get a handle on this hostility and my service guys. I simply can’t let them tick me off anymore. I just read of a study at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program in Oakland, California which came to the conclusion that people who tested high on the hostility scale were twice as likely to develop heart disease. That’s why I’m offering this video. We all need to laugh more!!

I have seen it before but it still has a way of bringing a smile to my face!
Ah… now I feel better!

Hands and Feet

Hands and Feet

I just love this little book. You are presented with 100 little tricks to make your hands and feet… absolutely gorgeous. Number 49 is about moisturizing your hands and all it takes is a little warmed olive oil and a pair of cotton gloves pulled on before you go to bed. In the morning, your hands will be softer than you can probably remember!
Must remember to do this tonight. All the best tips are useless if you don’t put them into action!

Question of the Day

Question of the Day

If you could ask your grandfather one thing, what would it be??
My own grandfather fought in the First World War, was captured and then escaped from a prison camp and made it home in one piece. I don’t know why it never occurred to me to ask him to tell us stories when we were growing up, but I never thought of it.
What a waste!
So what would you ask your grandfather if you had the chance?

That Coffee Business – Updated

That Coffee Business – Updated

Well, I promised that I would tell you if I got through Saturday without a cup of coffee and I not only did that, I made coffee for dh this morning and didn’t even pour myself a smidgen. To be quite honest, I didn’t even smell it brewing and that is usually the hard part! So, here is am sipping on a mug of water… boring I know, but until they can figure out a way to remove the color from coffee, I will be keeping my distance.
Here’s to whiter teeth and a smaller waistline I wonder how …read more

That Coffee Business

That Coffee Business

I think that I have kicked it entirely. Sure hope that I haven’t spoken too soon, but I haven’t touched a drop in over a week. But here is what made it all worth while. Britt said yesterday that my teeth look a lot whiter. I didn’t even ask her… she just brought it up out of no where!
I shouldn’t have brought this up. Already, I’m starting to think about a cup this morning. It’s Saturday and that usually means a long leisurely breakfast with a larger than usual pot of coffee! I’m going to have to be very …read more

The Dreaded Treadmill…

I knew there was a very good reason why I never liked treadmills…

Why Optomists Live Longer

Why Optomists Live Longer

“It used to be said that good people were short-lived — a belief honed in earlier times when infants and children frequently did not live to grow up, and anybody (good-natured or not) could suddenly be felled by infectious disease. Is there a link between personality and health? In scientific studies, it’s not easy to prove that positive or negative attitudes affect health. Still, it stands to reason that optimism and a sunny disposition could contribute to long life.
And indeed there is a body of evidence that well-adjusted, socially stable, well-integrated people have a lower risk of disease and …read more

Friends

Friends

What do you do when you move to a new town and leave all of your friends behind? You make new ones right?? Well, it’s not quite that easy. Tuesday Girl from A Girl and Her Life moved into a neighborhood where everyone is a lot older than she is… like about 30 years.
Well, I’m having the complete opposite problem. Everyone in my new neighborhood are brand new Moms and my kids are grown. Kind of makes it hard to make friends when you have next to nothing in common. So, what do you do??
Me, I will expand my …read more

My Summer Face

My Summer Face

Last summer you were supposed to look as if you are wearing no makeup on the beach, but it just made me look washed out. Thankfully this summer is a wee bit different. Makeup artists are calling for that old “bee stung” look for the lips and I couldn’t be happier. Not that I ever followed trends anyway. If the trend doesn’t suit me… I deviate. Like this summer.
Here’s what I’m wearing… even to water the garden. I’m constantly running into someone and as most of these women are in their late twenties, I’m not about to become known …read more
