It’s all about Christmas

It’s all about Christmas

It’s funny how you can go through 11 months of the year, but the minute that December arrives (or nearly) you entire way of thinking changes. I went looking for some quotes about the season and thought that I would share some of the best…
Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful. Norman Vincent Peale
Christmas isn’t a season. It’s a feeling.
Edna Ferber
And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It …read more

A Weird Holiday for November 30th – STAY HOME BECAUSE YOU ARE WELL

A Weird Holiday for November 30th – STAY HOME BECAUSE YOU ARE WELL

Now this is my kind of holiday. You stay home… simply because you are well! Kind of reminds me of the days when we used to skip school. Oh, those were fun days. But, in case any teens are reading this entry, it was a very, very bad thing for me to do!!
Anyway, I work at home so I can’t very well take the day off just because I’m “well”, but I can take the afternoon off work and watch that video up there. Yes, I own that one and the earlier version as well. I wonder when someone …read more

Tradesmen Coming out of the Woodwork

Tradesmen Coming out of the Woodwork

After a year of complaining about things not getting done, guess what. Suddenly this morning the doorbell has been ringing non stop. And I only expected one person to show up today. So far, we have had the island fixed (third time) the bathtub faucets tightened (you could spin them around), caulking topped up where it had been missing. How can people miss stuff like this?? Like using caulking when they should have use grout??
And then there were all the people who came to look and say, oh yes, that needs to be fixed. Man, where have I heard that …read more

Our House… Falling Apart after ONE year!

Our House… Falling Apart after ONE year!

If you have been following the saga of my falling apart house, well, I have an update for you. Last month, we had a home inspector come in and do a thorough going over it. We knew that there was a lot of things wrong, but it never hurts to get an expert in. Well, he was with us most of the day and left with 9 pages of code violations or things that needed to be addressed. And none of them were cosmetic!
The company who put in our stairs just left. Oh wait, they didn’t put in the stairs, …read more

I have shopping bags under my eyes

I have shopping bags under my eyes

I don’t know if I can blame it on all of the shopping I have been doing lately, or it’s the fact that I have been waking up at 3:30 am every morning wide awake!! And this morning is no different, so I decided that I would see if there is something that I could do about them that does not require less shopping.
Well, the first thing that I read was about putting a bag of frozen peas against the area. Yes, that would work lol…, but maybe an cooling eye gel mask with a 15 minute break would work. …read more

Last Night’s Christmas Walk

Last Night’s Christmas Walk

The three of us bundled up last night and went for a walk. Britt and her dad were interested in burning calories after dinner, I was looking for a little bit of Christmas decorating inspiration. None of us are too keen on climbing up and stringing lights, and that seems to be all I saw last night. But I do have a small garden at the front of the house, so this candy cane fence might be one way of decorating our yard.
And from what I have been reading, the little fence looks as good during the day as …read more

Coffee Top of the List for Weird Stuff

Coffee Top of the List for Weird Stuff

And you might be wondering why?? Well, most of us have wondered on occasion if our breath is enough to send people running. So, I went looking to see what the worse culprets were and did you know that coffee is high on the list of things that can contribute to bad breath! Now add alcohol, sugary mints and of course onions, garlic, curry and here’s my all time favorite… brussel sprouts!!
Finally, I have a reason to say no thanks to that vegetable. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate brussel sprouts? And everyone else in the family loves …read more

Today’s Weird Holiday – It’s National Parfait Day

Today’s Weird Holiday – It’s National Parfait Day

Yes, I know that it is freezing cold… at least where I live, so I’m not sure that I will be eating any dessert that is cold. I’m thinking that I should just go and change the holiday to something like Apple Crumble Day… a hot dessert. Okay, I would add ice cream to that, but the dessert starts off steaming, so the ice cream merely cools it down… at least in my mind and as I write this entry, it’s 2:30 in the morning. So, if I’m not makeing much sense, that’s the reason. Yes, just another night when …read more

Everyday Calm

Everyday Calm

Most of you know by now, that I spend my day writing about… something. I actually write 6 different blogs for b5media. Just in case you haven’t noticed, I have Aging Fabulous, Her Accessories, Shopaholics Daily, Weary Parent, Southern Byways and the one you are presently reading!
And that means that I have to come up with material each and every day for every single one of them. You have no idea how many people have asked me where I get my ideas from and to be quite honest, I get them from everywhere. Like today for example, I sat in …read more

Today’s Not So Weird Holiday

Today’s Not So Weird Holiday

Here’s to a great day and an even better dinner. I can’t wait until someone can come up with a computer that provides you with the scents of special holidays. I can almost smell that turkey from where I’m sitting, but not quite!
Happy Thanksgiving
