Today’s Weird Holiday – Cherries Jubilee Anyone??
Yeah, I have another one for you and it just has to be a decadent dessert. Who in this world can’t like cherries. If there was going to be a fruit that I could pig out on… it would be cherries.
And just in case you are thinking that creating your own dessert would be difficult, yeah, perhaps the real thing just might be, but an easier version is simply cherry pie filling and ice cream. Now I’m no whiz in the kitchen so I’m not sure that I would go the least step, but if you drizzled cognac over the dessert and held a match to it, I’m pretty sure that you would have an amazing presentation. Me, I might just drizzle cognac over it and then leave it lol…
Or you could skip dessert altogether and simply brew up a cup of Cherries Jubilee coffee. It’s hard to turn down a cup of coffee complete with a generous dollop of whipping cream and shaved chocolate.
I also did a little digging and found a little history that goes along with this spectacular dessert. Apparent, Queen Victoria had this thing for cherries, and Charles Elme Francatelli (one of her chef’s) came up with this dessert for her Jubilee Celebration.
