Getting Out Old Photos

Getting Out Old Photos

Yes, I was browsing other blogs… I do that on a regular basis and The Dog’s Breakfast reminded me to do something I haven’t done in a while… look through old photographs. It’s a great way to spend a Friday afternoon.
That made me decide to share a photo of my grandmother and grandfather standing next to Niagara Fall (I think). Actually, I only came by this photo about a week ago. Uncle Stan came through again with a bunch of family photos that I didn’t know existed. I don’t even know the year this was taken. Must make a …read more

Just Playing…

Just Playing…

Every day I try to do a little roaming around to see what other people are up to and today I hit on… House is Right. Have to admit, it’s not a show that I watch, but after reading a few of Cory’s entries, I just might have to find out what night it is on! I obviously work way too hard and I need to relax more! And maybe I need a new TV too. The one that I use for stuff no one else wants to watch is older than my kids and it just refuses to quit. …read more

Thought For the Day…

Thought For the Day…

Quit and you get no where. I have never been the most patient person, but somewhere along the line, I learned that if you want something badly enough, you have to work at it. If you quit, it’s never going to happen. If you stick with it, who knows, you just might pull it off. At least you have a better chance at succeeding than if you quit.

Ask a Stupid Question Day

So, if you have one that you have been afraid to ask… because it is just plain stupid. Well, today it’s okay. So go for it. I hope to come back in here tomorrow and find a ton of stupid questions in the comments section. But don’t expect me to answer them… They are really stupid questions!

Thought for Today

There is music in the meadows, in the air–
Autumn is here;
Skies are gray, but hearts are mellow,

Frugal Ways To Decorate For Fall

If you are trying to watch your budget, buying now, might now be the best idea. All of your decorating needs are going to be at full price. “As the sunny summer fades out and we enter autumn, it’s time to give your home …read more

Today’s Weird Holiday – It’s Crush a Can Day

Today’s Weird Holiday – It’s Crush a Can Day

I wonder if my sister knows about this. It’s her birthday and funny thing is… she works for a soft drink company.
“Use it as a stress reliever to take out all of the frustrations of your day. See how flat you can get it. It will make you feel good. Go ahead, give it a big squeeze”
You know, this must be a guy thing. I can’t ever remember crushing a can, but I did see a gadget once that would flatten a can to almost nothing. I will have to see if I can find a picture of it. …read more

Nearly Forgot Our Weird Holiday

Nearly Forgot Our Weird Holiday

Just in case you have been waiting… today is Johnny Appleseed Day! That means you had better serve something for dinner that has apples in it. In our house it is usually Apple Crisp and ice cream, but I do remember one year when we found this recipe where you added maple syrup to the filling and it sounded awesome. But for some reason ever time we attempted the recipe, we ended up.. throwing up. It tasted fine, but it simply did weird things to our insides?? Was it a fluke?? I don’t know, but after two episodes, we decided …read more

Parties and Drinking…

Parties and Drinking…

I just finished writing a post about teens and drinking, so I thought that it was only fair that I do the same for us. We don’t have to worry about the age thing anymore… I wish, but we do have to think about the empty calories and the damage to our waistlines. Here’s what I came up with…
Learn to say no at parties. As long as it isn’t a Margarita, I’m good. If someone is handing out Margaritas, then I’m in trouble, but back to the topic. There is no reason why you can’t enjoy a party with a …read more
