When Was The Last Time You Relaxed??

When Was The Last Time You Relaxed??

To be quite honest, I keep picking up novels that I mean to sit down and read and then never get around to it. I guess they are kind of like all of those movies that I pick up… for that night when nothing is on TV.
I don’t know where I’m going wrong, but I’m busier now that I ever was! But I’m going to change. I will get around to them all… really!! I have the entire summer ahead of me and we have a lake about 10 minutes away!
So, what was the last book you read …read more

Owning the Day

Owning the Day

“He is only rich who owns the day. There is no king, rich man, fairy or demon who possesses such power as that – Ralph Waldo Emerson”
Me… I want to own that cottage! I could see myself sitting there for hours at a time, listening to the waves lap against the shore and sipping ice tea.

Your Mind and Your Junk Drawer

Your Mind and Your Junk Drawer

Today’s little project is the cleaning our of your junk drawer… where ever it might be. Right now, I’m looking at mine. It’s my desk drawer and it is so full of stuff, I couldn’t put anything more in if I tried.
I just might empty it out and put up a sign. Somebody might think that I have cool junk?? So what little gems did you find in your junk drawer?

Entertainment Center For Small Spaces

Entertainment Center For Small Spaces

Going in a bit of a different direction this morning, but that’s just the way my mind works. Who know where it will be later today!
I took over one bedroom of the house for my office/sitting room and already I’m out-growing it. And then I saw this little beauty. It will fit right into the space where my old TV is sitting. And I suddenly have extra storage room. And my old TV… it’s older than one of my kids so I’m thinking that it’s time to trade up. The problem is that it simply refuses to die! Maybe it …read more

A Simple Garden

A Simple Garden

“Half the interest of a garden is the constant exercise of the imagination. You are always living three, or indeed six, months hence. I believe that people entirely devoid of imagination never can be really good gardeners. To be content with the present, and not striving about the future, is fatal. – Alice Morse Earle, 1897″
I could get carried away quite easily with the garden area of our new house. I get to start from scratch (we don’t even have grass yet) so all the possibilities boggles the mind. But I think that I’m going …read more

Woman of a Thousand Interests

Woman of a Thousand Interests

If you have a thousand and one things left undone, it might be a good time to take a little time this morning to make a start on one of them. Make a list if you have to and cross off each one as you complete it. You will feel better for it and you just might set up a routine for actually finishing things.
Being a woman of a thousand interests gets me into a lot of trouble. And seeing that it is a rainy day today, working on that blanket just might be my project for today. …read more

Can’t Sing… Don’t Ask Me

Can’t Sing… Don’t Ask Me

Okay, I know that the lyric goes… can’t dance, don’t ask me, but I want to talk about singing today. How many of you will actually turn on the radio when you have the house to yourself and sing at the top of your lungs?
According to Everyday Calm : Relaxing Rituals for Busy People by Darrin Zeer, if you simply let loose and sing, your troubles just melt away. I have to admit, that I can’t remember ever doing this. I might hum to myself, but sing… someone come home early and hear me.
But my husband, I swear …read more

Accepting My Waistline

Accepting My Waistline

I just finished an entry over at Aging Fabulous about Uma Thurman and her insecurities about her body. The woman has a figure to die for and along with that 24 inch waist, she is 5′11! I always wanted to be tall and I have been trying for the past 30 odd years to whittle down my waist to somewhere close to 24 inches. So, it seems that I’m not all that much different from the women I have been criticizing lately. It is a pretty good guess that if I haven’t managed a 24 inch waist by now, chances …read more

Aging That Is Good

Aging That Is Good

I haven’t tried this, but I have a yard that I have to make look presentable this summer, and this little project looks interesting. Apparently you take a tub of yogurt and paint your planters and lichens magically begin to grow.
According to the book, 1001 Ways to Relax : How to Beat Stress and Find Perfect Calm, it’s an inexpensive way to age anything in your garden. But, you can use yogurt on your face to slow down aging! Funny how things work
I haven’t quite decided what my theme is going to be, but making …read more
