Paul and Heather

Paul and Heather

By now everyone knows that their four year marriage isn’t working out and it is going to cost McCartney big time. Something like a million for every week that they were together. You have to wonder why he didn’t insist on a pre-nuptual agreement.
If you were going into a high profile marriage, would you sign an agreement or do you feel that it takes some of the romance out of the relationship??

Taking Care of Time

Taking Care of Time

“Many people take no care of their money till they come nearly to the end of it, and others do just the same thing with their time.”
Johann von Goethe
I don’t know about you, but these days time seems to have speeded up and as a result, it really does seem to be slipping away from me at a scary rate. I wonder why that is? When I was a kid, it seemed to take years for summer vacation to roll around. Now, we put our Christmas decorations away and suddenly it’s summer.
And then I found this…

My Next Job…

My Next Job…

Now wouldn’t it be fun to get paid to do something like this?? It reminds me of those gigantic Lego toys that you seen featured at Disney World. Someone actually gets paid to create these displays.

I wonder how many hours it would take to have created this??

Crochet = Play For Me

Crochet = Play For Me

I was almost going to apologize for playing a few minutes ago. I actually stopped working long enough to see what some of my fellow B5 bloggers were writing about.
As a crocheter, the first site I went to visit was Chloe’s “Hankering For Yarn”. I’m a crocheter from way back and I’m always looking for something new to crochet
As far as unusual things that I have crocheted in the past, I think the award would have to go to my plants. Yes, I found patterns in the 80s for crocheted cacti… of every shape and size. And yes, I just …read more

I Don’t Get It??

I Don’t Get It??

Yesterday on the way to the mall, we were stopped at a traffic light and a young girl hops out of the car in front of us. The first thing she did was pull down her skirt. I really have never seen a skirt quite that short before. I’m talking BIG TIME short.
It was obvious that she was uncomfortable because all the way to the street corner, she repeatedly tried to bring it down to a length that covered her butt. And that would take some doing I might add.
So, if it is that much trouble to wear something …read more

The Magic Box of Chex

The Magic Box of Chex

I’m in that kind of mood today. I think that I’m going to go buy myself a box of Chex! And all I thought that you could do with it was make that snack mix! Who knew

Thoughts for a Rainy Day in May

Thoughts for a Rainy Day in May

There seems to be a lot of quotes written about rainy days.
Be still, sad heart, and cease repining; Behind the clouds the sun is shining; Thy fate is the common fate of all, Into each life some rain must fall, Some days must be dark and dreary.
Author: Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
We are supposed to have dreary weather all this weekend and most of the coming week, and while it would be so easy to be miserable, I like the line… “behind the clouds, the sun is shining.” I’m going to hold on to that thought and enjoy the weekend in …read more

About Boredom

About Boredom

“Boredom is useful to me when I notice it and think: Oh I’m bored; there must be something else I want to be doing… boredom acts as an initiator of originality by pushing me into new activities or new thoughts.
Hugh Prather”
I know where Prather is going with this. My to-do list prevents me from getting bored. There are simply too many things that I haven’t gotten around to doing. I would probably pull out a notebook and start a list of blogging topics that I could use when I get home. Or maybe start notes on that …read more

Why the Da Vinci Code Doesn’t Work

Why the Da Vinci Code Doesn’t Work

“It’s no secret that the HowStuffWorks staff likes to take things apart and see what makes them tick. Some of us are also the kind of sticklers who point out science and technology mistakes in TV shows and movies, much to the chagrin of the people listening. But when we heard about the controversy surrounding “The Da Vinci Code,” we couldn’t resist picking it apart.”
My husband loves to do stuff like this and came up with his own list of things that didn’t make sense in the book. Did you spot anything that seemed… just a bit off??
Personally, I …read more

Morning in the Garden

Morning in the Garden

Morning is the best of all times in the garden. The sun is not yet hot. Sweet vapors rise from the earth. Night dew clings to the soil and makes plants glisten. Birds call to one another. Bees are already at work. – William Longgood
I didn’t use to like mornings very much. Staying in bed until 11 on the weekends sounded like a much better plan. And then I was talking to a few people who loved the peaceful silence of the morning. I thought that they were nuts! Who gets up …read more
