Time – So Little, So Much

“I would say that 95% of the stress in our lives relates to our feeling of time poverty.”
Stephan Rechtschaffen

There’s never enough time, is there. We rush from one moment to the next. I thought about that tonight when I was talking to my mom on the phone. I had to go because I had to work. Rushing from one thing to the other. Time

That is nuts.

I spent exactly as much time on the phone with her, talking about how I had to get some things done, as I would have had I just enjoyed the moment and talked with my mom. What was more important? Worrying about the things I had to do or talking to my mom?

That’s a no-brainer. My mom is definitely more important. The dishes will wait (as far as I am concerned, they can wait until you-know-what freezes over), the laundry will wait, the work will wait.

Just being IN the moment, can’t wait.

“To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else.”
Emily Dickinson

“Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save.”
Will Rogers

“The fast-paced rhythm of modern life conditions us to skim the surface of experience, then quickly move on to something new.”
Stephan Rechtschaffen

I meant to call my mom yesterday and stuff got in the way. So, I really know where you are coming from. I won’t put it off next time. Problem is, she’s never at home during the week, so I will have to wait until next weekend. That woman has a busier social life than I do! Thanks for setting me straight on what’s important in life. Stuff can wait!

    SP :)
