Wesa In Trouble
Thought of the Day:
“Monsters out dare.
Leakin’ in here.
All sinkin’ and no power?
Whensa yousa tinkin wea in trouble?”
Jar-Jar Binks, “Star Wars: Phantom Menace”
Thinking Outside of the Box:
Whenever I say, “Don’t worry, it could be a lot worse,” my daughter cringes. She has finally forbidden me to use that phrase. She says I don’t understand the true nature of trouble because when I say that, it does get worse.
So… I’m watching “Star Wars: Phantom Menace,” and this alien named Jar-Jar thinks that the Jedi Knights are a little of out of touch for not recognizing trouble. His comment is above. I must admit, I had to agree with him. When do you think you’re in trouble if not when the monsters are out there, the ship is leaking and the power is out?
Sometimes the monsters are out there. And sometimes the boat is leaking. Big time leaking. And often, the power is just gone. That’s trouble. Or is it? Are the problems we encounter really problems or are they ways to teach us adaptation and coping skills? (Oh wonderful, another learning experience!) It’s like that pill the news is buzzing about right now. Take a pill and erase bad memories? Would you do it? No way, for this vote. Our troubles are painful and I personally do not care overly much for learning experiences but they are what has made me what I am. For better, for worse, all of my experiences have made me a unique individual.
Wesa in trouble. But that’s okay. It could be worse!
Just think about it.
Some Last Thoughts:
“I have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened.”
Mark Twain
“If I were asked to give what I consider the single most useful bit of advice for all humanity it would be this: Expect trouble as an inevitable part of life and when it comes, hold you head high, look it squarely in eye and say, ‘I will be bigger than you. You cannot defeat me.’”
Ann Landers
“I would not leave you in your times of trouble. We never could have come this far. I took the good times, I’ll take the bad times, I’ll take you just the way you are.”
Billy Joel
“If you are out of trouble, watch for danger.”
Sophocles
“Troubles are usually brooms and shovels that smooth the road to the good man”s fortune; and many a man curses the rain that falls upon his head, and knows not that it brings abundance to drive away hunger.”
St. Basil
