Adjusting to Change

Thought of the Day:
“There is no amount of darkness that can extinguish the inner light. The important thing is not to spend our lives trying to control the environment around us. The task is to control the environment within us.”
Jean Chittester

Thinking Outside of the Box:
Too often, we look to change the circumstances that happen in our daisylife. We can’t. That’s a hard one to accept. Events occur, they are out of our control, and at times, they devastate our lives.

But, we are not totally out of control. We cannot change what happens to us (well, there are exceptions, but those big things like job loss, death, accidents…) but we can sure control how we react to it.

Our perception of an event can alter how we feel about it. It won’t change the event. The job will still be lost, the person we loved will still be gone, but we can handle it in a manner that makes acceptance easier.

Acceptance and perception. Just two small things that can alter our view of the world and how we approach each day.

Just think about it.

Some Last Thoughts:
“Your focus determines your reality.”
Qui-Gon, “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace”

“There may be trouble ahead,
But while there’s moonlight and music
and love and romance,
Let’s face the music and dance.”
Irving Berlin

“The friends that have it I do wrong
When ever I remake a song,
Should know what issue is at stake:
It is myself I make.”
W.B. Yeats

“If you don’t like something change it; if you can’t change it, change the way you think about it.”
Mary Engelbreit

“Things do not change; we change.”
Henry David Thoreau
