Several Ideas About Blue, Aging, and Lucidity

Thought of the Day:
“The complete life, the perfect pattern, includes old age as well as youth and maturity. The beauty of the morning and the radiance of noon are good, but it would be a very silly person who drew the curtains and turned on the light in order to shut out the tranquillity of the evening. Old age has its pleasures, which, though different, are not less than the pleasures of youth.”
W. Somerset Maugham

Thinking Outside of the Box:

I heard a song tonight I haven’t heard in ages. It was by Expose, who was at one time, one of the hottest groups around. The song was, “Seasons Change,” and a bit of it came to mind. I don’t know why I hold these useless bits of information in my mind; instead of remembering how to file my taxes, I remember the lyrics to songs. Maybe that is why I have a quotations blog and not one on money management. Anyway, the bit I remembered was:

Seasons change
People change
I’ll sacrifice tomorrow just to have you here today
Forever, seems so far away
This time full of ample play
You dream about today
Belief slips away
The wings of love they come away and
Seasons change.

That put me on a search for a good quote about how, as we age, we change. But not really. (“That was lucid!” said Dean to Jonathan.)

What I am trying to say is that, yes we change. Our needs change, our hopes, our dreams and our expectations. But in a way they stay the same. Bottom Line: Age is like color. There are zillion shades of blue and if you dont believe that, go to a paint store and ask for a gallon of blue paint. Navy, cadet, powder, sky… they are all shades of blue but they are different as, excuse the pun, night and day. They all are blue, but each delivers a different blue. And each age we are, delivers a different set of dreams. The beauty is that they remain dreams and are just as vibrant in later years as they are in younger years.

A Last Thought:
“I think your whole life shows in your face and you should be proud of that.”
Lauren Bacall
