The Fourth Sunday in Advent

Thought of the Day:
“THE SEASON of Advent means there is something on the horizon the likes of which we have never seen before… .What is possible is to not see it, to miss it, to turn just as it brushes past you. And you begin to grasp what it was you missed, like Moses in the cleft of the rock, watching God’s [back] fade in the distance. So stay. Sit. Linger. Tarry. Ponder. Wait. Behold. Wonder. There will be time enough for running. For rushing. For worrying. For pushing. For now, stay. Wait. Something is on the horizon.”
Jan L. Richardson

Thinking Outside of the Box:
That has been the entire message of Advent, this waiting and stillness within. The anticipation ofAdvent Wreath
something greater than us on its way to find us. Something that will mark a turning point. Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ who was a turning point for human history. Does this Advent have any kind of meaningful turning point? Perhaps it does for each of us in a different way. It may not steer the course of human history. Our own personal turning point could hardly have that kind of influence, but it could steer our own destiny in ways we cannot even begin to imagine, if we just stop to notice it. Just stop for a few minutes today and ponder what could possibly waiting on the horizon. Be still and you just may notice it.

Some Last Thoughts:

Lord, Fill our hearts with your love
The test of one’s character is…
The Advent Wreath
The Advent Season
