The B5Media network:

Unexpected Opportunities are Still There

Thought of the Day:
“None of us knows what the next change is going to be, what unexpected opportunity is just around the corner, waiting a few months or a few years to change all the tenor of our lives.”
Kathleen Norris

Thinking Outside of the Box:
I was reading something today that made me think about how quickly our society moves new news into old news. It reminds me of the Top 40 list; a person can be a huge hit one day and a one-hit wonder the next. Its that way with the news too. While the media hypes it and the story stalls as long as the networks can get ratings out of it, it is a hot story. But something else always comes along. The problem with that is that the story may not be over. What caught my attention was the problem in Louisiana and the areas affected by the hurricanes of 2005. Those people still need help and the big fund drives and everything has come to a screeching halt.

I remembered a page I had put together right after Katrina did her damage. It was just a short list of quotes that reminded me of the strength of the American people; we have a knack of pulling together in the middle of a crisis. Of course, we cant have a civil conversation with each other any other time, but during the times that the worst is happening, the best is seen of the American character.

Lets not forget the victims of Katrina and Rita. Those people still need us. There are organizations still looking for your help and there is still time to give that help. You might make all the difference in the world to a family who thinks everyone has forgotten all about them.

“You can always count on Americans to do the right thing – after they’ve tried everything else.”
Winston Churchill 20th Century British Prime Minister

“Good actions give strength to ourselves and inspire good actions in others.”
Plato c. 400BC Greek Philosopher

“I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do.”
Leonardo da Vinci Late 15th & Early 16th Century Artist, Musician, Inventor

“If humanity does not opt for integrity we are through completely. It is absolutely touch and go. Each one of us could make the difference.”
Buckminster Fuller 20th Century American Architect, Inventor and Visionary

“Born often under another sky, placed in the middle of an always moving scene, himself driven by the irresistible torrent which draws all about him, the American has no time to tie himself to anything, he grows accustomed only to change, and ends by regarding it as the natural state of man. He feels the need of it, more he loves it; for the instability; instead of meaning disaster to him, seems to give birth only to miracles all about him.”
Alexis De Tocqueville 19th Century French Political Theorist, Activist & Writer
Influenced by American democracy for French reform

A Last Thought:
“We can do no great things; only small things with great love.”
Mother Teresa
