Autumn: A Few Weeks Left to Savor the Wisdom and Sorrow

Thought of the Day:
“I like spring, but it is too young. I like summer but it is too proud. So I like best of all autumn, because its leaves are a little yellow, its tone mellower, its colors richer, and it is tinged a little with sorrow. Its golden richness speaks not of the innocence of spring, nor of the power of summer, but the mellowness and kindly wisdom of approaching age. It knows the limitations of life and is content.”
Lin Yutang

Thinking Outside of the Box:
I have always liked autumn the best of all of the seasons. I find that interesting, because, I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, where seasonal variety is just not all that noticeable. Now I live where every season comes out and blazes an announcement of its arrival. Autumn is time I feel to be reflective, a little mournful, a bit wiser, and a little wary of the days ahead, yet I find that comforting. I can enter winter aware and hopefully prepared, armed with memories and the warmth of gaining a little more wisdom from the past year.

A Last Thought:
“Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.”
George Eliot (real name Mary Ann Evans)
