Sleep in Peace
Thought of the Day:
“Have courage for the great sorrows of life and patience for the small ones; … go to sleep in peace. God is awake.” Victor Hugo
Thinking Outside of the Box:
How often do we carry the weight of our disappointments, our stresses, our heartbreaks, like Atlas with the globe balanced precariously upon a shoulder? We aren’t even close to being able to haul that load around. But we judge our own lives and blame ourselves (or someone else, which just isn’t fair and certainly isn’t nice) for things that just flat out go wrong in life. We mere humans just can’t admit we’ll eventually get dealt a bad hand, and that we need to muster up some courage but at the same time, well … chill. We CAN sleep in peace; there is something much greater than us who is watching.
This Day in History:
The United Nations was born at 4:50pm EST in 1945. To a war-weary world, it was the manifestation of a deep desire for peace. But as then Secretary of State James F. Byrnes said, peace cannot depend on documents, but on people. “Go to sleep in peace. God is awake.”
Arbitrary Thought of the Day:
“Seize the moment of excited curiosity on any subject to solve your doubts; for if you let it pass, the desire may never return, and you may remain in ignorance.” William Wirt
