Banished Thinking on the Info Interstate
Thought of the Day:
“In the information society, nobody thinks. We expect to banish paper, but we actually banish thought.” Michael Crichton
Thinking Outside of the Box:
As a frequent commuter on the information highway, I often wonder how much I am actually learning. I go from site to site and fill my head with information that isn’t actually printed out in a book, isn’t in a larger context of something bigger that I am studying but is like a bunch of 3 X 5 cards someone dropped on the floor. And here I am sorting through the cards. Just like everyone else in information rush hour. Have we lost the ability to think? Thinking means applying one set of principles or thoughts to another situation and coming up with something creative. I wonder if we have so much information that we just don’t even think anymore at all. Think something through creatively today!
This Day in History:
Okay, so this really belongs to the Birthday Blog, but everyone has read or seen a movie that originated from the mind of Michael Crichton. Today is his 63rd birthday. And I would have to say he looks… well, great! (I don’t think grandpas used to look like that!)
Arbitrary Thought of the Day:
“Hope arouses, as nothing else can arouse, a passion for the possible.” William Sloane Coffin, Jr. (This quote just about gives me chills! Really think about it.)
